History of Hard Work
Work
Experience
Dr. Bob Puckett, long-time area and state education leader,
has spent 30 years in public education. Bob has risen from a classroom teacher
to deputy superintendent of Floyd County Schools. He currently oversees several
departments in the school system with a combined budget in excess of $76 million
dollars. Bob has served as principal of three Floyd County Schools: Johnson,
Alto Park, and Coosa Middle. During his tenure as principal of Coosa Middle,
the school was one of 21 in the nation to be recognized by the U.S. Department
of Education as a "National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence."
Honors
and Leadership
Bob Puckett's hard work in education has resulted in numerous
state honors. He has been named the "Administrator of the Year" by the Georgia
Association of Education (GAE). Bob has served as president of both the Georgia
Association of Education Leaders, an organization comprised of superintendents,
principals and other state school administrators, and the Georgia Association
of Middle School Principals.
History of Service
Appointed by then Governor Zell Miller, Bob Puckett served eight years
as a member of the Georgia School Teacher Retirement System, responsible for investing
some $42 billion in teacher retirement funds. Bob served as chairman of the six-member
board prior to the expiration of his second term in 2002.
The
Right Man to Continue a Tradition of Leadership
Retiring Representative,
Paul Smith has been an outstanding public servant to Rome and Floyd County. Rep.
Smith has played a major role in the economic progress of our area, particularly
in his position as chairman of the House Transportation Committee. Throughout
his tenure, Rep. Smith held to the highest standards of personal integrity and
independent judgment. Bob Puckett is the man to maintain those high standards.
Working Hard for Family
I work hard for
a better future for my children and grandchildren. This is a great community for
raising a family. I work hard to make it an even better place for my grandchildren
to raise a family.
Meet my Family:
Christine
Puckett is my wife and partner. Christine has also been a career educator. She
has taught music, served as principal of Glenwood Primary School and director
of the Berry Schools middle school program.
Dr. Rob
Puckett is my son and a physician in the Rome area. Dr. Ben Puckett is my son.
Ben is married to Dr. Wendy Puckett and the two have a son - our grandson
B. J. Puckett. Ben is completing his residency at Atlanta Medical Center in
Atlanta.
Garden Lakes Baptist Church is my spiritual family.
The Pucketts are active members of the church. I have served as church treasurer
for 13 years, chairman of the administrative committee and as associate deacon.
